I am not really sure why this really makes a difference. My perm was approved in EB3 in about 7 months but if I have to wait 30 years to get a GC what difference does it make ?!?

I grew up hearing that most of the things in America are right and extremely efficient.
However the 485 application processing has left me baffled...astounded...
Not that i am sad that my collegues who filed way way after i did got their reciepts, EAD etc....but the fact that i always thought that there was a proper process in place or atleast a mechanism where applications were processed based on date filed
Today when i call up the 1-800 no they either say 90 days not up...or if i lie and say 90 days up...they say not in the system and will take time...
I thought America was about accountability...responsiblity and ensuring that in case there are errors....prompt action is taken to address the same....i dont see that...at least in my case....

I had same situation in 2009.. petition was approved in Mid 2008 and stamping was in feb 2009. No PIMS delay. I think if gap is more than few months , PIMS records are updated.

Its been real fast. Yesterday I received my Approval letter, today I received my Card in mail.
Application was approved on 13 may after opening SR on 6th may. So canceling INFOPASS... :)

As per the lawyers I got advice from
1> F1 is non-immigrant visa unlike H1B which is dual intent visa.
2> There is very high likelihood of F1 getting rejected at embassy because I have already shown my intent to immigrate by applying for GC. Hence, they suggested I will have to change status to F1 in the US and not leave the US till I complete education and join another firm on H1B. I decided not to go this path because I go to India almost every year.
3> For reason stated in <1>, I cannot maintain both F1 and GC application. They suggested that I might slip through if I don't get RFE. However, chances of RFE are high when I would be renewing my EAD at the end of 1 year or dates become current as actually happened in July 07. I am happy I did not go this route.
4> For reason stated in <1>, I can however maintain both H1B and GC. This means if my company agrees to maintain my H1B and GC, I can take unpaid vacation and go to school full-time. I can then come back at the end of semester and work for the company during winter or summer and return to school full-time. I did not think this was feasible.
I will be completing my "part-time" MBA in May 08 because of the same reason. I have put part-time in quotes because many of my friends finished in 2 years and I will be finishing in two and half years.
Finally, the above is my personal opinion and experience and I am not a qualified lawyer. Please consult a qualified lawyer about your particular case.

Your 180 days will be completed on 9th Feb 2008. I guess, if you can make sure that your company does not revoke your I-140 till Feb, you should be good. In the mean time, you can join another compny on EAD. I read somewhere in the forums that in case of layoffs (<180 days), one should get a letter from the company that states that they are laying you off NOT that you are resigning. This letter sometimes helps if USCIS issues RFE. This is my opinion and I am not a lawyer.

With bad economy, Green Card issues, visa retrogression, layoffs, bad stocks, housing crisis and with growing inflation - all we do is hope and strive towards betterment.
Diwali is a celebration of the victory of good over evil and I wish this Diwali will bring victory to the well deserved.
Lets all be together in turbulent times and work towards the change that we always want to see.

It is recommended that we wear formal suits while meeting with the lawmakers to project a professional image.
Having said that, like a theater artist, we will need to make a change to IV T-shirts for the rally & while doing volunteer work.

I was wondering that the difference between..."approval notice sent" and "welcome/CPO email" is that the former is still far from getting the card and needs some actions and more stress test done before the actual cards and the latter is all clear...
Also my case was "Texas original" though it moved to CSC and back....I think different centers are sending different emails...." a WAC case...
Will keep my finger crossed...just worried that my wife may miss the boat this time too...she was a dependent and our files must have moved together....Her status is still the old one "Case transfered to the center which has jurisdiction"

Hi All,
I need an advise from IV folks..
here is my situation..
I've got my I-485 approved through company A (Future Employment) on 09-2010 (Case details: PD 06 I-140 AD 02 I-485 RD 07-2007 AD 09-2010). I've never worked for the Company A and my GC-sponsoring company is about to close any time. Since 01-2008 I've been working for company B in same/similar field and did not file AC-21. If I want to continue working for company B, do I have to file AC-21? Please let me know if I need to concern about any thing in future.

IMO, the market is not as good as you think, and it�s going through the worst recession ever.
If not at your current job, you may have to take a pay cut at your future job, because that�s the current economic reality.
Since you have asked� I would suggest you to stay where you are and float your resume in the market and see the kind of response you get. I hope you will have a better idea then.

Hi all,
I have come to texas on a B1 to the client location. I stayed with my colleague who has a apartment here. When we left to office ( my first day ) .I made a mistake leaving my passport and others in apartment. .
I have applied and got a new passport .
I have applied for I-94 by filing I-102 . The processing dates are very slow for this . I only have a reciept of this and nothing.
I am leaving 3july next month...what need to be done....i dont even have a VISA.
And what needs to be done for B1 VISA.
I emailed the chennai US embassy but couldnt get any reply............

Keep you head cool, don't panic (i know, it is easy to say...)
First things first,
Launch a police complaint (this is very essential). (Get 8-10 photocopies made for these).
Take the complaint number and papers from police to Indian consulate and get a passport (1 year validity passport will be issued in 2-3 working days in this situation). I hope you have photocopies of your old passport including VISA page (hope you have I-94 photocopy as well). Approach local USCIS office and give them your stolen passport photocopies, complaint papers etc. They might be able to help.
My friend went thru even worse situation then you are in, his laptop bag with his passport, money, cell phone etc.. Got stolen from Frankfurt airport while was flying from Delhi to JFK, he got stuck in Germany for 4-5 days. He was in very bad shape, fortunately, he had few dollars and credit cards (corporate and personal with him)..... He was able to enter into USA on 5th day. I quoted my friends incident here just to boost your morale. Keep tight, hang in there.
